Work, sleep, eat, play; my bed is where it’s at during the summer holidays. How about you?
Where did the summer go? August seems to have passed in a haze of play dates, board games and stolen moments on my laptop. And even when I do try to sneak up to my room to read a book or do a bit of work, the kids seem to have a built-in radar that inevitably means they end up joining me. Ditto the cats. In short, my bed becomes the head quarters of this home during the school holidays.I’ll not lie, it is a blessed relief not to drag ourselves out to do the school run and I’m forever grateful to have this time with my kiddos but, nevertheless, some mornings I’ve found myself embroiled in a game of battleships or reading stories before I’ve wiped the sleep from my eyes, not to mention the stereotypical responding to emails in my PJs. And on rainy days (there’s been a few of those), the usual refrain is ‘can we have a pyjama day?’ – well the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree as they say.
The truth is I love my bed; I love how it is almost equal to the kitchen as an epicentre of the house, the heart of our home. I love how all three kids will still pile in to it at once even though I grumble that they’re messing it up. One day, I remind myself, I’ll be sad when I’m no longer finding toast crumbs and lego in it.
Rightly or wrongly, my bed will often be a place where me and the kids work, sleep, eat and play – in varying degrees. And therefore it’s probably no surprise that I love really good quality bedding. This summer we tried out a new set from Lulu & Nat. I thought they just did kids’ products but they have some beautiful stuff for grown up bedrooms too – check out the website. These crisp blue stripes will now forever be associated with the lazy, hazy days of summer, which will be a nice reminder on the dull winter days to come.
Lulu & Nat have kindly offered another set of the bedlinen shown here as a giveaway prize for one of my readers. If you’d like to be in with a chance of winning, then fill in the details below. This giveaway ends midnight on Sunday 10th September and is open to UK residents only.
