As we finally near the finish of our recent room makeover project, my head is really into interiors right now. Do you find that you go through phases too? Sometimes it’s all about the outfits and at other times I can’t get my nose out of Pinterest and home style magazines. So while I’ve been browsing online, I thought I’d share a few items I’ve earmarked. As ever with these Spend Vs Save posts, it’s a case of two looks, two different price points, so you can decide whether to splash the cash or not.

I really love the idea of a room covered in a tropical leaf print wallpaper. It would be so much easier than trying to keep the real ones alive eh? And the great thing about a feature wall is that you can choose to invest a little (or a lot) in just a roll if you’re not brave enough to go all out. Or how about using it to line the inside of bookshelves to create an impression of greenery?
These geometric shaped wire side tables give the illusion of a chunky piece of furniture but are actually lightweight and discreet. They’re versatile pieces that you could use all over the house from the lounge to the bathroom to the bedroom. While the two examples I’ve chosen are roughly the same price, I thought the fact you get two M&S tables for the same price as the La Redoute version made it quite good value.
My friend has one of those Pudding chairs from Loaf and it really is a thing of beauty; comfy, sumptuous and big enough to curl up both legs underneath you. More than an armchair, not quite a sofa, they are truly decadent things. Habitat does a similar one, though you could almost squeeze two people cosily into it – hence the name ‘compact sofa’ – and it comes in a great range of fabrics. The ikea version is understandably smaller and the fabrics not quite so luxurious but at that price, it’s still a great chair!
So, tomorrow I’m taking delivery of a couple of these wing chairs from Ikea. I’ve had my eye on them for ages ever since we tried them in store months ago. I loved the green but they’re no longer available in that colour so we’ve settled on the dark grey (probably the more sensible option long term anyway). Fingers crossed they look the part – will reveal more soon. We’ve also nearly finished painting the room – in Devonshire Green by Valspar FYI.
